Electric prices to drop for Ameren Illinois customers
Written on May 9, 2009
Ameren Corp. electric customers in Illinois will get a break starting June 1 with the phase-in of lower electricity prices.
The price of electricity, shown on bills as the "electric supply" charge, will decline an average of 8 percent, or about $100 a year, for the typical residential customer who uses 10,000 kilowatt-hours, Ameren said guaranteed cash advance.
The decrease reflects a drop in prices of electricity and power plant fuels such as coal and natural gas as demand wanes amid the recession.
