Publisher of RiseUp owes to Post-Dispatch, Chicago Tribune, others

The Kansas City-based publisher of RiseUp, which sought bankruptcy protection in June, owes millions of dollars to the companies it did business with during its brief lifetime.

The magazine, which focused on race, religion and ethnicity, lasted only six weeks, appearing as an insert in newspapers across the country, including the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Kansas City Star and the Chicago Tribune.

The publication and its parent, Ellis Management Marketing Group, filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions in mid June easy online payday loans. The magazine claimed less than $50,000 in assets and debt up to $10 million. It’s St. Louis creditors include the Post-Dispatch, $142,329 and the Bryan Cave law firm, $168,887.
