University of Pennsylvania names next medical school dean

J. Larry Jameson will take over as dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and executive vice president of the university’s health system July 1, 2011, the school announced Thursday.

In both posts, James will replace Arthur Rubenstein, who will step down to focus on teaching and research, a university spokesman said.

Jameson has been vice president for medical affairs and the Lewis Landsberg Dean of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University since 2007.

Rubenstein has been executive vice president at the health system and dean at the medical school since 2001.
