Daytona, a maker of cloud computers for AI agents founded in 2023, raised a $60 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation led by FirstMark Growth, the company said in a post on October 20. The round brings its total funding to $91 million.

How it started

Chief Executive Officer Ivan Burazin and Chief Technology Officer Vedran Jukić began in developer tools long before agents. Burazin wrote in 2023 that the two co-founded PHPanywhere in 2009, "which later evolved into Codeanywhere." Burazin's company biography says he later served as Chief Developer Experience Officer at Infobip.

The company's about page says Daytona was founded in 2023 and "began as a vision for a self-hosted development environment manager." Its first pitch was to large enterprises that did not want to rely on a cloud service. In November 2023 Daytona announced a $2 million pre-seed round; Burazin wrote that the company was "stepping up to fill the void left by GitHub Codespaces in the enterprise sector."

How it grew

In June 2024 Daytona announced $5 million led by Upfront Ventures. The company said it had launched its open-source project on March 6, 2024, and that the project gained more than 2,000 GitHub stars in 48 hours. It also said annual recurring revenue had nearly doubled in the six months since the pre-seed round.

In February 2026 it raised a $24 million Series A led by FirstMark Capital. The company said it reached a $1 million forward revenue run rate in under three months, and that the figure doubled six weeks later. Its customers then included LangChain, Turing, Writer and SambaNova.

The company's focus had changed by then. The about page says the product "has transformed" into "a secure, elastic runtime for AI-generated code execution and agent workflows." Daytona describes its core product as sandboxes, which it calls "programmatic, composable computers" that start, pause, fork and snapshot on demand.

The funding amounts reported by the company add up to $91 million: $2 million, $5 million, $24 million and $60 million (computed).

What the founders say

Burazin said in the Series B post that the company has long held that agents need computers of their own. "From the day we started Daytona, we've said the same thing: agents are digital humans," he wrote. He added: "That was a contrarian view. People asked why agents couldn't just run on existing infrastructure."

He described the demand in numbers the company reported itself: revenue up about 25 times since January, and average month-over-month net revenue retention of about 135%. Customers named in the post include Meta, Cohere, Writer, Clay, n8n and Postman. The company said Writer provisioned 300,000 sandboxes in a single month after moving from its own platform, which had passed 20,000 sandboxes a day.

The figures come from the company and have not been independently verified. The round also includes angel investors Patrick Collison of Stripe, Tobi Lütke of Shopify, Aravind Srinivas of Perplexity and Eric Yuan of Zoom, among others the post names.

What's next

Daytona said it is hiring on site in San Francisco across engineering, go-to-market and operations. Burazin wrote that the company is already building tools that agents need and humans never did, such as forking into a thousand copies or rewinding to an earlier state.
