Why it matters

Treasury auctions show how much buyers demand at a given yield. Both October sales were the same size as September's, $69 billion of 2-year and $70 billion of 5-year notes, according to the same data. The yields at which they cleared were lower than a month earlier.

What to watch

Treasury is scheduled to sell $44 billion of 7-year notes with a competitive close at 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 29, according to TreasuryDirect. Results are published by Treasury after each auction.
